Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 27: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina commented that the history of the Swechchhasebak Bahini is inextricably linked with the history of Awami League.

She said, under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, during the six-point movement and protests against the Agartala conspiracy case, the Swechchhasebak Bahini played a courageous role in providing war logistics in the turbulent streets and in the fiery days of the Great Liberation War.

Swechchhasebak Bahini contributed to various political movements and struggles after the liberation war. In that context, the journey of Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebak League began on July 27, 1994 with the formation of a convening committee to reorganize the traditional Swechchhasebak Bahini.

Later, in 2003, after making a full organizational structure, the organization carrying the banner of service-peace-progress has set a unique example of humanity through selfless volunteering for all disasters and poverty of the country and nation in the continuity of history and tradition. Especially when the entire world is in danger due to the corona pandemic, the way the leaders and workers of the Swechchhasebak League at all levels have worked day and night in creating awareness, distributing relief, implementing all kinds of humanitarian initiatives, including medical assistance and burying dead bodies, is highly commendable.

Sheikh Hasina said, "I believe that the Awami Swechchhasebak League will become more dynamic by implementing the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the spirit of the great liberation war. At the same time, the father of the nation's dream will make a significant contribution to the establishment of a happy-prosperous and advanced-modern golden Bangladesh."
